Since December, the Park View in Burnley have been raising funds and awareness for local charity, Casual Minds Matter. Casual Minds Matter are a suicide prevention charity, and their mission is to protect the wellbeing of men and women in Burnley, Pendle, and surrounding areas.
The fundraising began before Christmas which is an especially tough time for people struggling with their mental health. Throughout December, Tony and his team organised a variety of different initiatives to raise money and awareness for the charity including a Michael Bublé tribute and a children’s Christmas party where customers donated money.
December also saw four home games for Burnley FC and the collection boxes on the bar were filling up from the generosity of the football fans. The fundraising continued through January, culminating with a charity night last Sunday where Tony announced the final total and presented representatives from the charity with a big cheque.
The Park View raised an incredible £437.06 which will go towards helping those that need it the most in the community.
Park View Pub Operator, Tony Thomas commented on the fundraising efforts:
“When I decided to raise money for Casual Minds Matter, I had a goal of £300 and to get £437 is just incredible and a credit to how generous our customers are! I speak to people daily that struggle with their mental health, and it just demonstrates how important the work is that Casual Minds do.
I urge people to contact them if they feel they are struggling and need some support or just someone to talk to. We will continue to work closely with the charity and have more events planned later in the year!”
