The Hawk pub in Wigan has just hosted its first Winter Wonderland, equipped with fairground; Christmas themed markets with local vendors; a choir singing carols; breakfast with Santa for 70 children and much more festive fun over the three days.
It was the first of many for the Hawk who wanted to do something big for the community after not having a proper Christmas since the pub opened in May 2021. The Winter Wonderland kicked off on Friday 25th November as children tipped out of the school gates and came straight to the fairground which was situated on the pub car park.
Later, the Living with Life choir came along to sing Christmas carols in the beer garden which really got everyone into the festive spirit. Steins of beer and mulled wine were also being served to give it that extra Christmassy feel.
On Saturday, the markets and fairground returned as well as Father Christmas making an appearance to greet the 70 children that had booked onto the sold out ‘Breakfast with Santa’. In the evening Craig Williams, comedy vocalist and hypnotist entertained the customers by hypnotising six of the crowd and singing some Christmas classics.
The weekend ended on Sunday with more fun for all the family including face painting and games for the kids and the stall vendors returned for their final day to sell their produce. Overall, it was a fabulous weekend that will be coming back bigger and better in 2023!
