With the intense conflict in Ukraine threatening the lives and livelihoods of civilians across the country; the Blind Tiger pubs pulled together to donate some much-needed funds to send to those in need.
‘Buy a Pint for Ukraine’ was launched for one week where customers were asked to donate £1 when they bought a round of drinks. The initiative was well received with lots of customers donating over the 7 days, raising £1,500 in donations across the 17 pubs.
As promised, the final total was doubled and £3,000 was donated to the DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee).
Karen Strickland, Manager of The Grapes commented:
“We are always getting involved in initiatives to help those most in need so when we were given the opportunity to join in with the company initiative, we jumped at it!
Our team were great at asking the customers if they would like to donate and everyone was very generous, so we raised a lot of money! It is such a great cause, and we are going to continue our fundraising by selling Ukrainian ribbons.”
The Disasters Emergency Committee brings together 15 leading UK aid charities, raising funds to quickly and effectively respond to overseas disasters.
