The Argyll & Sutherland has raised £2,300 for local hospice, Wirral St Johns after their successful Claus crawl this weekend. Operators Andy & Ellie wanted to raise funds for a charity close to theirs and customers hearts but in a fun way that would involve not just the customers but other pubs like theirs.
The Claus crawl started at The Argyll & Sutherland and covered a couple of miles around Eastham and Bromborough visiting various pubs along the way. Other pubs involved included The Meerbrook, The Bow Legged Beagle, The Whistle, The Brom, The Royal Oak, The Hooton Arms and The Montgomery before heading back to The Argyll for a big party all dressed as Santa Claus of course!
Live entertainment, a food truck, games and Christmas festivities were planned for the return of all the participants who partied into the night dressed as Mr & Mrs Claus! Other customers in the pub also donated as well as the pubs rugby and football teams who often support all the charity initiatives at the pub.
The pub raised a total of £1146.50 which was matched by Blind Tiger Inns who were also running their charity day on the same date. The total amount of £2,293 is an amazing achievement and will go towards helping a wonderful local hospice who provide free care for adult patients and support for their carers and loved ones.

What a fantastic day for an even better cause! We had an absolute ball with all those who took part on the Claus Crawl and I can’t thank Ellie enough for organising it all. A huge thank you to all our customers for their generosity too as without them we wouldn’t have raised such an incredible amount.
We wanted our customers to choose the charity we raised funds and awareness for, so we chose 4 local charities and asked our customers via social media to vote for their favourite. St John’s was a standout winner as many of our customers have received support for their family members so we’re very happy that we can give back to them for everything they have done for our community.
Wirral Hospice St John’s provides free care for adult patients and supports carers and loved ones. Families are at the heart of everything they do and most of their income is donated by individuals, families, groups, companies and charitable trusts.
