Yesterday, The Wishing Well in Lostock Hall hand-delivered 50 food bags that will feed families in need this Christmas. Together with the help of the community, the Wishing Well has been fundraising since November to provide these vital food bags for those that are struggling at one of the toughest and loneliest times of the year.
The 50 individuals were selected through nominations from people in Lostock Hall and local charities. The nominations came from Derian House, SVP Chorley Buddies, New Day Church Food Hub, The Broadfield Arms and social media.
The food bags were packed by the team at the Wishing Well with the help of customers and Blind Tiger Inns support team. Each bag contained all the trimmings including a starter, main and dessert as well as biscuits, chocolate and a Christmas card from the community. The bags were then hand-delivered by the team, and all the recipients were extremely grateful.
Daniel Dunne, Manager of the Wishing Well spoke about the initiative:
Wow, I am so happy we were able to achieve what we set out to do and seeing peoples faces yesterday as we delivered the food bags made all the hard work so worth it!
The sole purpose of our pub is to bring people and communities together. We experience people struggling financially, mentally, physically every day and sometimes you feel helpless but yesterday felt like we’d achieved something really special.
A massive thank you to my team, our customers and all the local businesses, charities and individuals that have donated money, products, services and their time to make sure this initiative has been successful! You are truly amazing!
Nick Buckle, Operations Manager at Blind Tiger Inns also commented:
Everyone at Blind Tiger Inns is immensely proud of Daniel and the team at the Wishing Well for what they have achieved for those at the centre of their community. Feeding 50 families for free at Christmas is such an amazing community initiative and I know what a huge difference it made for those people receiving the parcels yesterday.
