After months of training, it all came down to one moment on Sunday morning at Salford Quays as manager of the White Horse, Kevin and three others got ready to cycle 60 miles north all the way from Manchester to Blackpool.
The Christie Manchester to Blackpool ride is a well-established cycling event that takes place each year to raise money and awareness for The Christie charity, who provide support and treatments for patients and families going through cancer.
Having all been affected by cancer in some way, Kevin, Sophie, Pat and Brian showed total commitment to their training, going out on their bikes daily in preparation for the 60-mile cycle.
They did plenty of training cycles, even cycling to another Blind Tiger pub, The Talbot in Euxton and certainly enjoyed the cold pint at the end, even if they did have to cycle all the way back to Irlam the same day!
All the hard work paid off on the day as they crossed the finishing line on the South Promenade in Blackpool and hit over £1,000 in donations which Kevin tells us was a wonderful feeling:
“It was such a great achievement for us all and we’re really proud of ourselves. We’ve all been affected by cancer in some way, so it was good to know we were helping families that The Christie supports. Thank you to everyone who donated especially Blind Tiger Inns for their generous £250 donation!”
