It’s been another fantastic year of fundraising at Blind Tiger Inns and we’re finishing the year stronger than ever after raising over £40,000 for national and local charities.
We’ve really gone the extra mile with our fundraising challenges this year. Most notably at the Hawk in Wigan where team members and customers cycled the length of the country and back (1,940km) to raise money for Wigan & Leigh Hospice.
The ‘Just Giving July’ initiative saw all our pubs donate their pool table income from July to local charities nominated by the customers. The money raised at the Aigburth Arms bought much needed items like goal posts for Hillside Neighbourhood Centre while the Broadfield donated their funds to The Base who feed 200 people daily for free!
More lives were saved at The Grapes in Mathew Street using their defibrillator and the money raised from their jukebox was donated to the British Heart Foundation. Another defibrillator was installed at the Chestergate in Stockport, bought from all the fundraising initiatives that the manager Steph organised.
Foodbank donations are becoming increasingly more important and many of our pubs donated to these across the year. The Talbot held its annual food bank drop off point replenishing the much-needed stock at Chorley Help the Homeless, and many others donated food items with money raised through initiatives at the pubs.
The Rising Sun played a vital role in making dreams come true this Christmas as they raised money for ‘When you wish upon a star’ and helped send 100 local children to Lapland. The Park View in Burnley raised hundreds of pounds for local suicide charity ‘Casual Minds Matter’ and this will continue into 2024 with their cheque presentation charity day planned at the end of January.
Every single pub within the estate has gone above and beyond this year to raise money and awareness for their chosen charities and without the help of our fantastic communities this would not be possible. So, as we look forward to the New Year, we would like to say THANK YOU to you all and we look forward to your continued support in 2024.
