The Grey Man in Daisy Hill opened on Friday 16th August after a major refurbishment that saw the dated pub transformed into a premium local specialising in sports, entertainment and activities for the whole family.
The money has been spent on a complete internal and external overhaul and is unrecognisable from before. The rear beer garden has been transformed into a space that everyone can enjoy with multiple A-frame tables and benches, four timber booths each seating six and a children’s play area. There is now seating for over 100 outside and plentiful parking.
Inside the pub, structural works have been done to create a brighter, more spacious environment for socialising. The bar has also been enlarged as part of the works and now is a focal point on entering the pub. The graffiti has given it a much more contemporary feel and can be seen running through the entire pub and the huge mural on the outside is a customer favourite as they love how much it has brightened up the whole neighbourhood.
As well as live entertainment every Saturday, there will be a smart phone quiz every Wednesday, free pool on Thursday and free jukebox on Friday. The pub will have all live TV sport and continue it’s long-standing relationships with the pool and darts teams that now have a state of the art contactless pool table and upgraded darts area to use for practice and matches.
Twelve new jobs have been created and is being ran by experienced publican, Tina Brown. Her goal is to put the pub back on the map as somewhere that the whole Daisy Hill community can come to enjoy.
Tina commented on the opening weekend:
“Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine our opening weekend to go that well! It has been amazing meeting the community and they have all been so welcoming. We have so many plans in place to keep us busy and ensure we continue with momentum after our first couple of weeks which are naturally always going to be busy with people coming to have a look.
Initially, I was nervous about leaving my previous pub as I had been there for 18 years, but I know I have made the right decision joining Blind Tiger Inns as their vision, determination and support has been second to none. The future at this pub certainly feels like a very exciting one!”
