What an experience the team had in New York!

Our pub managers from the Park View, Burnley and The Grapes, Liverpool have this week returned to work following their trip to New York City as a reward for hitting maximum bonus 3 times out of 12 in 2023.

The trip saw them take in all the sites of Manhattan, from Times Square on the ground, to Summit and Edge at the top of skyscrapers, and even a helicopter tour of the city on the final day. In between, the trio paid a special visit to the Blind Tiger Ale House in Greenwich Village, as well as being given a tour of the rooftop gardens at 230 Fifth Avenue, one of the most famous bars in the city.

There was fun every day, with all of the landmarks being ticked off in the whistle stop tour, including the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the WTC and of course stops at Tiffany’s and Macys for some retail therapy!

Karen and Les, managers of the Grapes in Liverpool a pub synonymous with its links to the Beatles were particularly excited to visit the John Lennon memorial in Strawberry Fields, Central Park;

“When asked what we wanted to do in New York, the memorial was top of our list, given our obvious links to the Beatles with our pub being the only pub the Beatles actually drank in on Mathew St, contrary to what the tourists are told!”

The trip was clearly action packed, as you would expect in the city that never sleeps, with Tony from the Park View in Burnley explaining;

“It was just unbelievable. The trip had all been well planned for us so that we could see all the things we had asked to see, but didn’t feel rushed and there was plenty of time for a beer or two and some amazing New York City food too!”

All Blind Tiger Inns managers are eligible to book a place on the annual incentive trips, by hitting maximum bonus in any 3 of 12 months each year. Given the bonus structure is based on previous results, it’s a very achievable target and one the pubs are keen to win!

Now that we are into 2024, pub managers are striving to book themselves a seat on the plane to Dubai which will jet off in early 2025. Managing Director, Chris Tulloch tells us;

“It was an absolute pleasure to host the guys in New York. Spending time away from the pubs and getting to know each other in this way cannot be underestimated. We took in plenty of sites during our time and I cant wait to see how many of the team we can get on that plane to Dubai next year!”
